When you create or edit an account, here's what you'll see and how to think about each piece:
Start by picking a type — Bank Account, Credit Card, Crypto Wallet, Investment, or Cash. This mostly affects how the account looks (its icon and color), so just pick whatever matches it best in real life; you won't be able to change this later, so take a moment here. Give it a clear name you'll recognize later, like "Chase Checking" or "Cash Wallet."
Next, choose the currency this account holds money in. This is another one to get right the first time — you can only change it later if the account has no transactions on it yet, so if you're not sure, sort it out now before you start recording anything.
Set your initial balance — however much is actually in that account today. Like the currency, this can't be edited afterward through the form; if you get it wrong, you'd need to either record a correcting transaction or delete and recreate the account.
The rest of the fields are entirely optional and can be changed anytime: a bank name (only shown for bank accounts), a card number (we only ever show you the last four digits — more on that below), a color, a short description, a "has cheque" note if relevant, whether the account is active, and whether it's your default account. As you fill things in, watch the little preview card at the bottom of the form update live, so you can see exactly how it'll look once saved. And if you're adding several accounts back to back, toggle Keep form open after saving so you don't have to reopen the drawer each time.
