Two budgets cannot claim the same accounts, categories and dates. Rasa Money warns you before you save, so first-match-wins never turns into guesswork.
Set a spending limit for the accounts and categories you choose, over the period you choose. Rasa Money assigns expenses automatically and alerts you at 80% and again when you go over.
A budget says: I want to spend no more than this on that, between these dates. You set the limit, the period (one to twelve months), the currency, and which accounts and categories count. Only expenses count toward a budget, and refunds subtract.
There is nothing to file. When you record an expense, Rasa Money finds the budget whose accounts, categories and dates match and assigns it. A transaction belongs to exactly one budget, so nothing is ever counted twice.
Every budget shows spent, remaining, days left and average spend per day, with a clear status: Safe under 80%, Warning from 80%, Exceeded above 100%. Crossing 80% or the limit sends an alert in the app and by email, usually within moments of the expense that tipped it.
Recurring budgets create each new period for you and tell you when they do. Pause a budget instead of deleting it, then resume it later with an optional catch-up of matching transactions.

Set the limit in the currency you plan in. Expenses from other currencies convert at each transaction's own locked rate, so spent and remaining never drift with the market.
Basic explores within a budget cap and Pro removes it. Each period of a recurring series counts toward the cap, so check the plan page before building one.
| Spent | Status | Alert |
|---|---|---|
| Under 80% of the limit | Safe | None |
| 80% to 100% | Warning | Budget threshold alert (normal priority) |
| Over 100% | Exceeded | Budget exceeded alert (high priority) |
Threshold alerts count completed expenses and refunds only. Pending and scheduled items never trigger an alert, even if you include them in the on-screen figure.
Expenses that match the budget's accounts, categories and dates. Completed expenses and refunds count by default; pending and scheduled items appear only when you include incomplete transactions in the view.
Until transactions are linked to it. Once spending is attached the limit locks, because changing it would silently rewrite history.
Yes. A budget has its own currency and converts expenses from other currencies using each transaction's locked rate.
Yes. Pausing stops new matching transactions from being added while keeping what is already counted. You can resume it later and optionally add matching transactions from the pause.
