Recurring Transactions

Rent, salary, subscriptions, loan payments: set the rhythm once and Rasa Money creates each payment on schedule, in the status you choose, and keeps your forecast honest.

Automate the money that repeats

A recurring transaction is a template that generates real transactions on a schedule: Netflix on the 14th, rent on the 1st, salary on the 28th. Choose a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly cycle, a start date and, if you want one, an end date.

The template itself is not a transaction. It never touches a balance or clutters your ledger; it is a rule that produces payments, and those payments appear in your transaction list like any other.

In practice

You stay in control of every payment

New payments are created as Pending by default and wait in your Cartable until you confirm them, so you can check that Netflix really charged you. Prefer hands-off? Set the default status to Completed and payments settle the moment they are generated.

Edit a series and the future changes while completed payments stay untouched. If your bank charges a slightly different amount one month, edit that single payment without touching the template.

Foreign-currency billing

A USD subscription paid from a EUR account is a first-class case. Each payment converts the billed amount at the rate for its own date, and future payments settle to the real rate when their date arrives.

Pause, don't delete

Pausing stops new payments and leaves history alone. An ended series becomes read-only. Deleting a template removes the rule but keeps every payment that already happened.

Included with Pro

Recurring series are a Pro feature. Series that are already running keep generating payments if you downgrade, and your history is never deleted.

Choose how new payments are born

The default status is the most consequential setting on a series.

Default statusWhat happens
Pending (default)Each payment lands in the Cartable for confirmation and lowers your available balance until you confirm it
CompletedEach payment settles the moment it is generated, fully automatic
Failed or canceledGenerates payments with no balance impact; rarely useful

Default end dates by cycle

If you do not pick an end date, Rasa Money gives you roughly a year of payments. Open-ended series are also available.

Billing cycleDefault end date
DailyStart date plus 30 days
WeeklyStart date plus 52 weeks
MonthlyStart date plus 12 months
YearlyStart date plus 1 year

Edit the future, never the past

Editing a series updates open pending and scheduled payments. Completed ones stay exactly as they were, so raising a subscription price never rewrites what you already paid.

FAQ

Where does my subscription appear?

The series lives on the Recurring Transactions page. Each payment it generates appears in your normal transaction list, badged as part of a recurring transaction.

How quickly are payments created?

Generation runs hourly, so a series you just created may take up to an hour to show its payments.

Can I change a series' billing cycle later?

Not once it has generated a payment. To switch a monthly series to yearly, end it and create a new one.

Can a recurring payment count toward a debt?

No. Recurring transactions cannot be assigned to a debt; debts have their own installment schedule.
