Frequently Asked Questions
Bank connection, plans, export, currencies, and what we are not — answered in one place.
Is Rasa Money an expense tracker or a full personal finance manager?
A full finance manager. Expense tracking is one part of it. Rasa Money also handles accounts across five types, income and transfers, two-level categories, budgets with periods and scopes, recurring transactions, loans and installment plans, an approval inbox, a dashboard with net worth and cash flow, file import, and an AI assistant grounded in your own data. The multi-currency engine runs through all of it rather than sitting beside it.
Do I need to earn in multiple currencies to use it?
No. If every account you own uses the same currency, Rasa Money runs in single-currency mode: amounts are shown as recorded, the base currency is pinned to your account currency, and there is nothing to convert. Everything else — budgets, categories, recurring transactions, debts, the dashboard, Rasa AI — works exactly the same. The moment you add an account in a second currency, the multi-currency engine switches itself on.
What makes Rasa Money a true multi-currency finance app?
Every account holds one currency, and every transaction stores the exchange rate that applied on its own date. Rates are stored per calendar day and never change once written, and downstream figures — budget spend, category totals, net worth — reuse the rate the transaction remembered rather than today's. That's why a report you ran last March still says the same thing today. Most apps convert at read time, which quietly rewrites history every time the market moves.
Which currencies and rates does Rasa Money use?
150+ currencies, plus accounts typed as crypto wallets. Rates are mid-market, sourced centrally from one provider rather than per user, and the product is explicit that these are not bank rates — your bank will apply its own spread. Today's rates refresh when the provider publishes; past dates are permanent. A freshness indicator in the top bar tells you when rates were last updated, with a manual refresh if you want one.
Do I have to connect my bank account?
No, and for a lot of our users that's the point. Bank connections cover a handful of countries and are the first thing to break when you move or bank somewhere unusual. Rasa Money works from what you enter and from file imports, so it behaves identically in every country. It also means we never ask for or store your banking credentials.
Can I import transactions from my bank?
Yes, on the Pro plan. The import wizard accepts CSV and XLSX exports from any institution worldwide. You upload the file, map the columns, choose how transaction types are detected, and review every row in an editor before confirming. Rasa AI can propose the column mapping and a category per row, and can spot repeating charges that look like subscriptions — but every suggestion is a suggestion, and nothing is written until you confirm.
How do recurring transactions and subscriptions work?
You create one template per series — expense, income or transfer — with its cycle, end date and default status. The template is not itself a transaction and never touches a balance; it generates occurrences on schedule, which do. Occurrences are typically created as pending and land in your Cartable inbox, so they affect your available balance but don't count as settled or hit a budget until you confirm them. You can backfill past occurrences, pause a series, or date occurrences ahead. Recurring transactions are a Pro feature.
How does debt and installment tracking work?
Add a loan, installment plan, credit-card plan or personal debt with its total, number of installments and cycle. Rasa Money lays out the schedule, tracks payments against the outstanding balance, and shows how much you've cleared. Link it to an account and each payment becomes a real transaction affecting your balance; leave it unlinked and it stays a tracking record. Debts in a different currency are converted into your base currency so you can see what each installment actually costs.
Can one budget include accounts in different currencies?
Yes, and this is one of the more useful things the engine makes possible. Each budget has a single currency for its limit, spent and remaining figures. You choose which accounts and which categories belong to it, those accounts can be in any currency, and matching expenses convert toward the limit using the same locked rates as your ledger. Only expenses count toward a budget — income and transfers never do.
What is Rasa AI, and what can it see?
Rasa AI has three surfaces: a chat assistant, a one-tap dashboard summary, and category assistance inside the import wizard. It reads a snapshot of your accounts, balances, budgets and categories, plus your recent transactions, and it also knows how the product works — so it can answer both "what did I spend on groceries?" and "how do I create a budget?". Crucially, it is read-only: it can answer and summarise, but there is no path for it to create, edit or delete anything. Chat history is kept in your browser rather than on your account. All three surfaces are Pro features.
How is my financial data protected?
The strongest protection is structural: we never connect to your bank, so there are no banking credentials to store or leak. Beyond that, sensitive actions — exporting data, resetting your finances, deleting your account, revealing a stored card number — require you to re-enter your password, and the two most destructive also require typing a confirmation word. Stored card numbers are encrypted at rest and never returned in ordinary responses. Download links are HTTPS-only, and export files are removed from disk after download.
Can I export all my data?
Yes, on the Pro plan. Export produces a structured archive of your accounts, transactions, budgets, categories and debts, downloadable after you confirm your password. Data export is one of the Pro capabilities, so if you're planning to leave or to move your records elsewhere, do it while your subscription is active. Downgrading never deletes anything — your records remain in the product either way.
What happens when the 3-day Pro trial ends?
The trial starts at checkout through our payment provider, and your first charge is scheduled for the day it ends — the exact date is shown in Settings → Subscription while the trial runs. If you cancel before that date you're not charged. Trials are tracked per account, so resubscribing later won't grant a second one.
What can I actually do on the free plan?
Enough to judge the product, not enough to run your finances on — and we'd rather say that than let you find out in week two. Basic gives you 2 accounts in a single currency, 10 transactions total with 3 per day, 2 budgets, 10 categories and 1 debt. Recurring transactions, file import, data export, the cash flow chart and Rasa AI are Pro. If you want to explore properly first, load the demo data: it fills the product with realistic accounts, categories, budgets, transactions and a debt, and you can clear it in one action when you're ready to go live.
Is Rasa Money available in my language?
The product is fully translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese, German, French and Turkish, and Rasa AI writes its summaries and answers in whichever you've selected. Dates, month names and weekday names follow your language too, and you can choose from five date formats, set your timezone, and define which day your financial month starts on.
Is Rasa Money a bank or financial advisor?
No. Rasa Money is a finance tracking and management tool. We do not hold, transfer, or invest your money. Rasa Money is not a bank, broker, or financial advisor.
