Archiving vs. deleting a category you don't use

If you've stopped using a category but still have old transactions tied to it, archive it — your history stays intact and you can always bring it back later. Deleting is meant only for categories you never actually used; it's blocked entirely if anything's linked to it, which is exactly why archiving is almost always the better choice.
