A note on Iranian Rial (IRR) rates

Iranian Rial rates can differ across public sources.

Why IRR needs a special note

Iranian Rial rates can differ across public sources. Rasa Money documents how it sources IRR so your converted totals are explainable, especially when a number disagrees with a website or app you also check.

This does not change how you enter IRR amounts on accounts or transactions — those stay in IRR. It only affects conversions into other currencies and into your base currency.

Dual-rate environments and differing public feeds make IRR uniquely noisy compared with major FX pairs. Documenting the feed strategy is part of being honest about converted net worth, not a claim that one public number is the only “true” rial rate.

How today’s and older rates work

If you use IRR, today’s rate comes from a live market feed that is locked in each evening. Older dates rely on a broader global rate source.

Anything dated before 1 August 2026 uses that global rate only, so it may look a little different from other IRR sources you are used to checking. That cutoff keeps historical conversions consistent inside Rasa Money even when market feeds differ.

When you review history that crosses the August 2026 cutoff, expect a methodological change in the source mix. That can create a visible seam in charts even without new transactions. Prefer comparing periods that sit entirely on one side of the cutoff when precision matters.

Practical expectations

When you compare a converted total to a bank receipt, prefer the rate your bank actually applied for that transfer, and override transfer amounts when needed. Dashboard conversions are for portfolio clarity, not a promise to match every retail FX quote.

If you hold IRR alongside other currencies, pick a base currency you can reason about (often USD or EUR for reporting), and remember IRR line items still store native amounts.

For tax or formal reporting outside Rasa Money, follow whatever rate authority your jurisdiction requires. Use Rasa Money’s conversions for personal clarity and product totals, and override individual transfers when you have a bank’s exact executed rate.

If you only hold IRR, base currency may stay locked to IRR until a second currency appears on an account. The special IRR feed rules still matter as soon as any conversion or multi-currency report enters the picture.
